PPG: Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find answers to the questions we commonly get asked regarding our patient participation group and providing feedback to the surgery.

Why is Lea Vale asking people for their contact details?

We want to talk to people about the surgery and how well we are doing to identify areas for improvement.

Does the Patient Participation Group share information with my clinicians?

Your contact details and any information shared with the PPG is only used to review the surgery and ensure changes that are being made are patient-focused. If your clinician is responsible for making some of the changes in the surgery, they might see general feedback from patients, but these are anonymised.

Who else will be able to access my contact details?

No one beyond the practice.

Do I have to join the Patient Participation Group (PPG)?

No – however, if you are interested in helping us shape an improve services, but are unable to commit to our monthly PPG group, you can still engage through a variety of streams within our Lea Vale Voices structure.

What happens at a Patient Participation Group (PPG)meeting?

A PPG meeting is attended by the Practice’s Community Engagement Team, practice patients and guests. The meeting is managed by the Patient Chair or the Community Engagement Team. The meeting follows an agenda. The meetings usually last around 1 hour and are currently held virtually in the evening.

You can learn more about the Patient Participation Group here.

What is Lea Vale Voices?

This is our patient engagement programme for those who are unable to join our core PPG group, but are still interested in helping to shape and improve our services. Under Lea Vale Voices, there are a variety of engagement options for patients to share their ideas, suggestions and feedback.

What is the difference between the Patient Participation Group and Lea Vale Voices?

The Patient Participation Group is a smaller patient group that meets regularly and is responsible for overseeing and actioning issues and topics brought forth through Lea Vale Voices in partnership with the Practice.

Lea Vale Voices is a programme that ensures all patients the opportunity to help improve and shape our services through the implementation of various engagement pathways (i.e., surveys, focus groups, etc.). Participation is more flexible and does not require patients to regularly attend meetings.

Do I have to take part in either group?

No, participation in either group is voluntary. However, if you change your mind, please let us know.

What if I no longer wish to be on the contact list for Lea Vale Voices/the Patient Participation Group or I leave the surgery?

We will ask you to let us know if you do not wish to receive further messages.

Who do I contact if I have further questions?

Contact our Community Engagement Team at [email protected]
